Every hotel knows its commercial numbers. Occupancy, rate and guest scores arrive every morning, tracked to the decimal.

Its people numbers are a different story. Training, certifications, turnover and job readiness are measured too, because they have to be. But the data sits across training platforms, HR systems, rosters, spreadsheets and inboxes, often in tools the person compiling the report can't even log into. So someone spends hours chasing exports, stitching them together and hoping the numbers still hold by the time the report goes out.

So today, Paddl is introducing the Hotel PPOS, the People and Performance Operating System for hotels. It brings a property's people data into one record, connects the tools the hotel already runs, takes on the admin between them, and shows managers who is ready for their next shift, without the chase.

Hospitality is human work.

As AI takes on more of the world's work, everyone is asking the same question: where do people still matter most? Which jobs are human at heart? Hospitality is one of the clearest answers there is. Technology will take on more of the bookings, the forecasting and the admin, and it should. But guests don't choose a hotel for its booking engine. They come for the human touch.

What guests remember is people. The bartender who remembered their drink. The concierge who found a table that didn't exist. The guest services rep who turned a missed flight into the best night of the trip. Years later, that is the story they tell, and the reason they come back.

The people who create those moments deserve to be looked after: guided from their first shift, trained for their role, and protected at work. That means a happy, healthy workplace, where incidents and issues are handled professionally and quickly. People give their best to guests when they know someone has their back.

The more technology does, the more a hotel's people matter.

It started with hoteliers.

As Australian hospitality rebuilt after COVID, we created Ignite Hospitality, a 12-month innovation programme that ran across 2024 and 2025. Our aim was to help hotels grow with confidence again, through technology and through community. Along the way, we kept running into the same challenge, and it was people: training that took hours to track and prove, team members leaving before they were ready, and managers spending their shifts on paperwork instead of their guests.

None of it appears as a line on the P&L. All of it costs margin.

Hotels weren't short of tools, or of effort. Training lives in one system, rostering in another, HR in a third and reviews somewhere else. Each does its job, but none of them talk to each other. So every report on a hotel's people is built by hand, and it starts going out of date the day it's finished.

The cost shows up on the floor. Hotels need new team members on shift fast. When the systems behind them don't connect, critical training can't keep up. That means food safety, responsible service of alcohol and handling card payments securely (PCI compliance). It also means spotting the signs of modern slavery, people trafficking and other dangerous situations, often when a guest means harm. Some new starters get it late. Some never get it at all. So people end up working shifts without the training and guidance they need, and that puts them, their guests and the hotel at risk.

Hotels have solved a problem like this before. The property management system brought rooms, rates and guests into one place, and changed how hotels run. Their people deserve the same. That is the gap Paddl was built to close, and we intend to close it for good.

Every hotel is different. Its people system should be too.

We also learned what doesn't work: asking every property to run the same way. A city hotel and a coastal resort under the same flag don't run alike, and they shouldn't have to. What makes a hotel worth staying in is often what makes it different.

So Paddl works the other way round. Brands set the standards. Operators set the pace. Each hotel meets them in its own way, with the speed to move when it needs to and the proof to show it has.

The same is true of technology. No single system works for every hotel. Management teams have their own views and their own ways of working, and they should be free to choose the tools that suit them.

That choice is good for hotels. When providers compete for their business, services keep getting better and hotels get more for their money. A people system shouldn't lock a hotel into one way of doing things. It should work with whatever the hotel chooses, and keep working when that choice changes.

This is the Hotel PPOS.

Think of it as a PMS for your people, working beside the one you already run. Paddl connects, automates and powers the people and performance systems across a hotel. It bridges the gaps between them, gets them talking and brings their data together, so insight that used to take weeks to pull together is there when you need it.

In practice, that means three things.

One record for every team member. Each person's record stays clean and in sync with your HR system, so you start from one view of your team.

Admin that runs itself. Training from your providers and your own content sits in one place. Set a requirement once, and Paddl assigns it, tracks it and records it, through to expiry.

Readiness you can see. See who is job-ready, who is falling behind and where the gaps are, before an audit or a guest finds them. The hours you get back go to your guests.

Paddl doesn't replace the tools you have. It works with whatever you run, from a brand's global enterprise systems to the lighter, leaner tools each hotel chooses for itself. That gives managers the speed and flexibility to handle the constant pressure of high churn and daily people challenges, and puts their energy where it counts: delivering amazing service to guests. Every connection you add makes the picture more complete.

What it means for you.

For brands: your standards, delivered and proven across every hotel, with room for each one to keep its character.

For operators: give every property what it needs, fast, and show every owner what their people return.

For hotel management teams: hours back from records and reminders, and a system set up around how your hotel runs, not the other way round.

For owners: a clearer answer to the question that matters most: what do my people cost this hotel, and what do they return?

For all of them, it comes down to four outcomes: higher guest satisfaction, reduced operating risk and higher team retention, and from those three, stronger operating margins.

What's live today.

Training, Workforce and Reviews are live today. Paddl connects your training providers and your HR system to one record for every team member, and brings your guest reviews into Paddl, so what guests say sits beside your team's training and readiness, not in a separate app.

In one hotel, the team built a compliance programme and sent it to 160 team members in 2 days. Within 30 days, 89% had completed it.

The system we're building.

Today is the start. Here is where Paddl is heading, and what it will mean for everyone with a stake in a hotel.

Every system talking. Paddl will connect to the property management system, so a hotel's people data sits beside its occupancy and revenue. Day-to-day tasks will join the same record. For the first time, a hotel will see how its people drive its results, as it happens.

Intelligence that acts. Paddl AI will turn that connected record into insight and suggested actions: who needs what, by when, and why it matters. It will flag a training gap before a busy weekend, not after a bad review.

A view for every role.

  • Brands set their standards once and see them delivered across every hotel, managed or franchised, each in its own way.

  • Operators see every property they run in one portfolio view, with the proof to show each owner the value of their team.

  • Owners get a clear report on what their people cost and what they return.

  • Managers get one place to see what needs doing, with the admin already done.

  • Team members get a simple app on their phone that tells them what's next, and the training and backing to do it well.

That is the system hotels have been waiting for: every party gets what it needs, and every hotel stays free to run its own way.

Where this leads.

We believe the best hotels of the next decade will back their people as boldly as they back their rooms. In those hotels, a job-ready team and an exceptional stay go hand in hand, each in its own way.

Getting there doesn't take another decade of workarounds. It takes hotels that are ready for a change. We're building Paddl with hoteliers, the same way we started, and we'd like you to build it with us.

If you run a hotel, a group of hotels or a brand, and you're ready to solve this once and for all, let's talk.
