My thesis explores how nitrogen contamination affects the microbial communities residing in a shallow groundwater aquifer. This is achieved through the analysis of 16S next generation sequencing and physicochemical testing.

As a scientist I specialize in microbiology, genetics, phycology and groundwater research. I am passionate about the environment, ecosystems and biotechnology. Additionally, I believe that as scientists we should be consistently bridging the gap between academia, industry and Government through the use of well thought out, targeted, evidence-based experiments and research. I have recently submitted my PhD thesis in the field of environmental engineering. My PhD consisted of understanding microbial ecosystems so that I could characterize the extent and effect of groundwater contamination.
