As a scientist I specialize in microbiology, genetics, phycology and groundwater research. I am passionate about the environment, ecosystems and biotechnology. Additionally, I believe that as scientists we should be consistently bridging the gap between academia, industry and Government through the use of well thought out, targeted, evidence-based experiments and research. I have recently submitted my PhD thesis in the field of environmental engineering. My PhD consisted of understanding microbial ecosystems so that I could characterize the extent and effect of groundwater contamination. I pride myself on my passion for good, effective science, my diverse set of skills and my commitment to integrity within my work.

My thesis explores how nitrogen contamination affects the microbial communities residing in a shallow groundwater aquifer. This is achieved through the analysis of 16S next generation sequencing and physicochemical testing.
