About Hannah
Interested in opportunities providing valuable experience in industries related to science or business and exploring a range of career possibilities while completing my undergraduate science degree. I'm particularly enthusiastic about finding mathematics and statistics related opportunities.
My experience includes volunteer tutoring and subject coordinating Mathematical Methods 1/2 for the 2017 and 2018 VCE summer school program run by University Melbourne Student Union. These roles involved a variety of responsibilities including editing a subject booklet, holding meetings, planning classroom activities and teaching. Through these responsibilities I developed my communication and organisational skills.
I was also involved with this year’s UMSU Summerfest Host Program, as an orientation tour host and UMSU Angel. In my role as tour host I developed my ability to lead and engage with a group of people. As an UMSU Angel my role was to provide information about services on campus in a friendly and approachable manner, and to look out for the welfare of students.
I also developed my online teaching and communication skills through volunteering as a Coursera mentor for the online subject, Fibonacci Sequences and the Golden Ratio, for 5 months.
I'm currently working towards the Leaders in Communities Award and participating in presenter training for the Science Delivery program, which will run over these upcoming winter holidays.
I'm familiar with using Matlab, Mathematica and Python and would love the opportunity to develop my technology skills even further. I also have experience typesetting mathematics in LaTeX and proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite.
My certifications include Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) and Food Safety Handling (SITXFSA001).
I am half-way through my Bachelor of Science at University of Melbourne and intending to major in Mathematics and Statistics with a specialisation in Pure Mathematics. I have also completed a range of first year commerce subjects, which have introduced me to business and economics concepts. My weighted average mark is currently 88.7 (H1).
