About Joel

As a cognitive scientist, I enjoy the challenges that come with testing my own, and others' theories, to find an answer and advance knowledge.
In 2017, I commenced as a graduate researcher at the University of Melbourne.
My MPhil dissertation measures contrast sensitivity functions using an automated analysis of optokinetic nystagmus (involuntary oscillatory eye movements) to delineate whether a motion response to chromatic stimuli can be found. Emphasis on physiologically isoluminant gratings and motion of colour gratings to determine spatiotemporal frequency tunings
In 2015, I completed a BSc (Hons) at Swinburne University. My project investigated differences in eye movement behaviour of participants low and high in autistic tendency Emphasis was on eye tracking to measure saccadic eye movement initiation through latency measurements of varied task requirement (e.g. pro- versus anti-saccade).
I have academic experience as a teaching assistant and a research assistant.
I have lived and worked overseas and travelled extensively.
My intentions for the coming years are to complete a PhD and plan for working as a post-doc researcher.
