My name is Julia and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Deakin University specialising in Pharmaceutical Science which I started in March 2020. My course helps me delve in my passion for science whilst having a medical side to it allowing me to help people's lives.
I have volunteered five times since I was 13 years old, helping my local school in areas such as the library sorting books and shelving them, assisting the primary for a week as a teachers helper, assisting the Early Learning Center in looking after children and helping the whole school with their annual fete. I have also volunteered at my local Op Shop sorting the store and talking to customers. These volunteer positions were led by my love of helping the community. I developed teamwork, time-management, and multitasking skills through these positions such as having to delegate tasks at the OP-Shop, prioritising and multitasking to try and get the work done in a curtain frame. These positions helped inspire me to undertake a bachelor of Biomedical science as I want to help find cures or help ease the pressures and pain from diseases and problems in our society.
My career goal is to become a pharmaceutical scientist and create a cure for psychological problems in society such as Alzheimer's disease allowing patients to have a more comfortable life. Through this degree I would be able to learn the skills I would need for this career and would give me a bigger scope of the problems in society that need pharmaceutical scientists, helping me grow a passion for other areas of Pharmaceutical science that I could work in.
