Everything in this universe is based on science and it was vital for me that I had a thing towards sciences from an early age. I used to think long and hard into most occurrences to figure out how they can be explained scientifically. This made me follow the science stream in high school with plenty of enthusiasm. Passing the examination which decided university entry with flying colors, I was admitted to the University of Peradeniya which is one of the top universities in Sri Lanka. Working hard while being an athlete, I was able to complete the degree in physical sciences with honors. I was then awarded a full scholarship along with a teaching assistantship to attend Ole Miss for graduate studies. Here is where I made all those years of knowledge count in graduate work and research, culminating in a Master’s in Physics. Thereafter I explored the world of work and was employed by some very well reputed organizations to carry out tasks in information technology. As a result of these endeavors, I have acquired the traits of competing and achieving high standards in life. The science and research background all throughout my educational career and the computational experience from employment hold me in good stead. These combined with the immense natural interest and passion towards the field of Geosciences along with the ambition, should be the perfect recipe for pursuing this opportunity.
