About Judith

The University acknowledges over 200 cumulative years of bringing knowledge to life in Greater Western Sydney (GWS) from its heritage and member institutions. The University of Western Sydney began operation on 1st January 1989. From the beginning of 2001, the University of Western Sydney operated as a single multi-campus university rather than as a federation after a major restructure was approved by the UWS Board of Trustees at the end of 1999.
The single multi-campus University of Western Sydney has six campuses located in the GWS regions (Bankstown, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, and Penrith) and a mission that links its activities to the development of the region.
The multicultural community of GWS is one of the most diverse in the world with over 100 nationalities calling GWS home. The diversity of the region is further reflected in the contrasting strengths of the 14 GWS local government areas. The region combines the majestic beauty of the World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains National Park; state-of-the-art Olympic venues; historical sites of Indigenous and Colonial importance; and traditional rural environments with the high-tech business districts, retail and service centres typical of a modern regional economic powerhouse.
Western Sydney University is in the top 2% of universities globally. The University is also in the world’s top 100 universities under 50 years old (THE World University Rankings). With campuses across Sydney, and 45,000 students from over 170 different countries, WSU provides a diverse campus and a varied learning environment including Architecture, Arts and Humanities, Business, computing, Construction Management, Creative Industries, Data Science, Engineering, Health and Sport Sciences, Industrial Design, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Psychology, Sciences, Social Sciences, Teaching and Educations, Interpreting and Translation, Tourism and Urban Planning.
