About Jarrod

My name is Jarrod Prout. I am 22 years old, and am currently based in Sydney, Australia. I attend the University of Wollongong, where I am in the fourth and final year of a Bachelor of Economics and Finance. So far in my studies I have been a recipient of the Dean's Merit List Award 3 years in a row, recognising that I had been in the Top 5% of students in my faculty. My Weighted Average Mark after completing 24 subjects is currently at 87.92. I am double majoring in both Economics and Finance, as my interests lie in mathematics, statistical analysis and policy making, which are at the heart of these majors.
As part of my degree, I was given the opportunity to partake in a 2 week study tour in Sri Lanka in July 2018. Following the trip, we were required to write a research paper with the topic a key economic issue in Sri Lanka. The trip opened my eyes in seeing how business standards and operation techniques vary between developing and developed nations, and has presented me with the opportunity to view Australian practices in a whole new light. The tour enhanced my skill set, teaching me how to identify areas of opportunity, and also to discuss and design strategies to improve efficiency and quality in the business sector.
From September 2017-August 2018, I was a Shift Supervisor at Gregory Hill's McDonald's, where I was a key member of the management team. Here, I learnt many valuable skills, including the ability to manage a group of works, the ability to work in a team, and seeing first hand how businesses go about implementing and achieving business goals.
Over the past year, I have attempted to engage in more community work. In March, I organised my restaurant's Clean up Australia Day effort, which was a very rewarding experience. I am also currently organising a team to partake in the 24 Hour Walk for Cancer in Campbelltown in October. I am looking to increase my volunteer and community work in the near future. I am particularly passionate about a number of areas in the economics and finance sector. These include, but are not limited to; analytics, statistics, policy making, innovative and creativity, and human development. Stemming from my experience in my degree, work and personal life, I have the necessary skills required to take on any role arising from these areas. I am a strong leader, but also thrive in a team environment. I am strong with numbers and possess excellent writing and delivery skills. Above all, I am looking to get out of my comfort zone, take on a challenge and start making a real-world difference in the business sector.
Thankyou.
